Thoor Dal

Ingredients:

Thoor dal              -  100 gms
Tomatoes              -  2 nos
Green chillies         - 2 nos
Garlic                    -  6 - 8 pearls
Turmeric powder   -  1/2 tea spoon
Red chili powder   -  1/2 tea spoon
Mustard seeds       -  1 tea spoon
Jeera                     -  1/2 tea spoon
Fenugreek             - 1/2 tea spoon
Red chillies            - 2 nos
Ghee                     - 2 table spoons
Sugar                    - 1 tea spoon
Salt to taste

1.  Wash and soak thoor dal for 1/2 hour.
2.  Grind tomatoes, garlic and green chillies into paste without adding water.
3.  Heat ghee in a kadai and add mustard, jeera and finely broken red chillies.
4.  As soon as the mustard crackles add the ground paste to it.
5.  Also add salt, sugar, turmeric powder and red chili powder.
6.  Keep stirring till the ghee splits.
7.  Now add the soaked thoor dal and cover.
8.  Cook till the dal is shapeless and mash it adding water.  Remove from stove.
9.  Thoor dal ready.  Serve with roti, rice or even parathas.
